Dy’er Sez: Members of congress are trying to levy a fine of up to $3,800 for people who either choose to opt out of or cannot afford the insurance ‘reform’ package. And yet, they still insist that it’s not mandatory and that this is all in the best interest of the country.
This idea that those who cannot afford (or choose not ) to pay for this package are going to have to dish out almost four-grand is…well…this has got to be one of the stupidest, lame-brained, simple-minded fallacies of logic I’ve ever hear come out of the House of Representatives. It is VERY obvious at this juncture that the best interests of the American people are not what this ‘reform’ is all about; it is simply to make a new guaranteed money making structure for the industries (pharma, insurance, and health maintenance systems) that caused us to be in this health care nightmare to begin with. Actually, it’s starting to look a lot like the bailouts to me.
These are half-assed plans hatched by half-assed people and we as Americans should not stand for this. I am THOUOUGHLY disgusted by the members of congress who are backing this. This is NOT change we can believe in.

Fines proposed for going without health insurance
By RICARDO ALONSO-ZALDIVAR, Associated Press Writer
WASHINGTON – Americans would be fined up to $3,800 for failing to buy health insurance under a plan that circulated in Congress on Tuesday as divisions among Democrats undercut President Barack Obama’s effort to regain traction on his health care overhaul.
As Obama talked strategy with Democratic leaders at the White House, the one idea that most appeals to his party’s liberal base lost ground in Congress. Prospects for a government-run plan to compete with private insurers sank as a leading moderate Democrat said he could no longer support the idea.
