Gardasil vaccine and box

Dy’er Sez: Although this is taken from a recently published story, the news of huge problems with Gardasil (the vaccine which purports to prevent cervical cancer) have been floating around for a couple of years – not only in the UK, but here in the US as well.

Judicial Watch filed a FOIA request to release information on Gardasil back in 2007, and some of the statistics they have accumulated are indeed shocking: The vaccine only protects against 4 of the thirty or so strains of HPV, and the effectiveness against those 4 strains is questionable; the long term effectiveness, as well as the long term side effects, are completely unknown due to a lack of testing; the methods used for the initial testing of the shots were somewhat skewed (the placebo used to measure side effects was aluminum based which is poisonous to humans, and could have shown that the placebo vs. vaccine side effects were minimal); although there is some proof that the vaccine may prevent HPV, there is NO study to show that it actually prevents cancer stemming from HPV.

The CDC has reported that some of the possible side-effects of the vaccine can be quite severe; blood clots in the heart and lungs, Guillain-Barre syndrome, and even death (43 deaths connected to the vaccine have been reported as of June 1st 2009).

Additionally, there have been over 3,000 reports of serious side effects from Gardasil as of 2008. Considering that there are only about 3,000 fatalities from cervical cancer every year in the US, one has to wonder if the vaccine is worth the risk involved, and if the push to have girls vaccinated in the first place was not due to concern for the general welfare of girls and women, but nothing more than a marketing campaign to make lots of money for Merck.

Story from the London Telegraph:

Two thousand schoolgirls suffer suspected ill-effects from cervical cancer vaccine

Thousands of schoolgirls have suffered suspected adverse reactions to a controversial cervical cancer vaccine introduced by the Government

Doctors’ reports show that girls of 12 and 13 have experienced convulsions, fever and paralysis after being given the vaccine, which is now administered in schools as part of efforts to prevent women developing cancer.

Others suffered nausea, muscle weakness, dizziness and blurred vision, according to a special report drawn up by drug safety watchdogs.

A support group says it has received dozens of calls from parents who believe their daughters have been damaged by the vaccine.

The parents of one teenage girl given the jab last autumn believe it was to blame for repeated seizures which have left her with brain damage and psychosis
